Honor Code

Life. Liberty. Pursuit of Happiness. All can define the one word that our forefathers fought to create this country. Freedom. The United States of America was built on bringing freedom to people like you and I. The men and women that serve to protect that freedom for us have been doing it ever since our forefather’s time. Think of it as a code of honor and trust. When you put on the uniform you must hold a law of integrity, humility, honesty, and loyalty that you will not abuse the powers given to you to serve and protect people like you and I and that you will not take those powers into your own hands because justice always prevails in the end and once were all gone from this planet there will be someone that will be judging us all and everything we’ve ever done will be laid on the table.

My post today is in relation to a lot of current events going on that you are hearing about in the media. From racism, politics, corruption, entitlement, you name it. I’m about to cover what needs to be covered as best as I can and I want to point out that this isn’t to be a bashing post but more a realistic wake up post for Americans to realize that we need to reform a lot of thing in this country but we have to understand that doing the easy things (procrastinating and putting topics off till the next day, and the next day) life will be hard, and doing the hard things (addressing entitlement, being honest and loyal and a person of their word) life will be easy. I started this post with regards to those that serve this country, our states, our city, our law enforcements as a mean to address that reform has to be here as well because corruption exists everywhere that you can’t lie to the person that you see in the mirror each day and eventually you will be caught. I want to note that I have nothing against the law enforcement and I support those that protect and serve our safety and this is more a post as to say that corruption can no longer exist in this country and especially in the law enforcement. If our forefathers were alive they would agree that when you put on the uniform you were given a duty to protect the country they created for you and I. So to the many that actually are protecting and doing the right things I am proud of you good men and women. For those that are in training to protect and wear the uniform or looking to I say this when you put on this uniform and badge you are saying that you will be honest, humble, loyal, trustworthy, and will not use the powers vested in you for your own means and will honor the code of honor and that doing anything that isn’t honorable is considered un-American.

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness define Freedom. Greed, dishonesty, entitled, corrupt define things in this country that needs reform big time. From the people that put on the uniform to protect to the people that are in office to the average person on the street there has to be something that we must be united to agree that if we want freedom we have to do things the right way and not the unlawful way.

I’ll start this first with entitlement. What are entitlements? In the United States, an entitlement program is a type of "government program that provides individuals with personal financial benefits (or sometimes special government-provided goods or services) to which an indefinite (but usually rather large) number of potential beneficiaries have a legal right...whenever they meet eligibility conditions that are specified by the standing law that authorizes the program. (As defined off of Wikipedia) I truly believe because of entitlements like these (Social Security, Public Assistance, etc.) that many Americans don’t realize that this is one of the many reasons that this country owes over $18 Trillion dollars. That is how much debt we have at the moment and growing which is equivalent to over $57,000 per citizen and over $154,000 debt per taxpayer. This is our National Debt. In 2008 our national debt was over $9 Trillion dollars and in 7 years we doubled however only a politician will say it doubled but the deficit went down. In 2008 the deficit was over $488 billion and in 2015 it’s over $433 billion so yea wooptydodah. No politician is going to say if you vote for me we’re going to raise taxes, you’re going to have to work longer to get social security, and were going to pay out less so vote for me. People would get the pitchforks ready for someone like that because dealing with the pain is too hard so we’ll keep pushing it off till the next year, and the next year, and the next year. So we need to address that when our founding fathers first created this country they never were on any entitlement and that they worked for themselves and expected us as Americans to work for ourselves and not depend on the government to take care of us. Public assistance is another thing that people feel entitled to but many don’t realize that another entitlement like this will not be around forever. I’m sure many people lately have been seeing many strikes and layoffs happening because of minimum wage issues as well as getting a raise. I have agreements and disagreements regarding something like this because yes I agree that getting a raise and the minimum wage has to be increased because many people need to be keeping up with inflation and the cost of living since they go up. However, I do not agree that we need to go from say a minimum wage that is current in each state whichever hourly is just say example of $7.75 an hour to a $15 or $20 raise right away. That is something I say no sir or no ma’am. People will be like oh but I feel I need this because I should be making what I’m worth. I have a question for those that are for this type of jump. When you first took the job you are currently doing did you not agree for the pay that was given to you on day 1? If so then what right gives you to say you should get that raise if you agreed to something when you first signed up? If you felt you deserve that higher hourly wage wouldn’t you have turned down that position and kept searching till you found what you were worth? I’m sure I would get many gulps at this point because this is a reality wake up check that everyone needs to be addressed to.

Racism I won’t cover too much but will cover just enough that people need to realize that no matter what you do everyone seems to throw the race card or immigrant card or color card however what floats your boat but reality is it doesn’t matter whether you’re black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Albanian, you can name all the races I don’t feel like doing all that but reality is we all bleed the same color so we are all united with red. So to say oh that person is racist or that person is an immigrant. I want you to stop and think about it because we all bleed the same color red and we all are immigrants because our founding fathers were and our families that came to America were so think the race card needs to drop already. Show me how you dress, who you hang around with, the things you are reading and listening and watching and I will tell you the type of person you are and the income you will make. Our minds are really two types when we refer back to Carol Dweck’s book Mindset. We are either a Fixed Mindset or a Growth Mindset. We either lead or we follow. We either stereotype or we don’t. We can’t throw the race card for every little thing. When I hear people complain about certain places passing on laws of no baggy pants in public otherwise they will get ticketed and they say that’s being racist and denying their freedom I say b.s. Baggy pants sagging with your underwear hanging is not freedom of speech or freedom of expression that’s just you wanting attention.

Corruption has to stop period. To have reform we need change. Change people in our office. If you want to help people and help this country I truly believe the people in our office need to be on a limited timeframe and not be in office for life because that adds to the national debt. I believe Warren Buffett said he could solve this national debt problem in 5 minutes. Stop keeping the same people in office for life. Stop paying for them for life and have them contribute to social security just like everyone else. When we have new people in office then we can have new ideas that can push society forward and lower our debt. I understand that we as people are only humans but that doesn’t give anyone the right to do corrupt dishonest unlawful things. Whether you’re a police officer, a soldier, a politician, the president, a religious figure, an average joe schmo worker, it doesn’t matter we have to stride to doing the right things especially for our fellow Americans and our friends and family around the world. You can lie to everyone else but you can’t lie to the person right in front of you in the mirror looking at you which is you. Corruption and lying and cheating and doing illegal things will always come to light and sooner or later justice will be brought to those that try to avoid it. The truth always wins.

To conclude this post I want to say the whole point of this is to show that we have to abide to a code of honor. Not only do law enforcement but politicians, religious figures, and average everyday people. To some it’s a badge or a uniform or a flag, and to others it’s a book, a cross, or your fellow American. Your friends. You family. You and I have to understand that before we can change this country to be honest, loyal, humble, and have a sense of integrity, and trustworthy. We have to first change ourselves first. Once you can change yourself to do the right things with your life then you can help others change theirs. Then maybe. Just maybe. One day we can change the world. Attitude of Gratitude and paying it forward. Acts of Random Kindness daily can make your home, your town, your city, your state, your country, and your world a better place.
